ABOUT ME

IMG_2429.JPG

I’m Rebecca - Mummy to two young boys, beach lover, sun seeker and qualified Early Years Practitioner.

I have worked with families for almost two decades in various roles including: family worker/community liaison, parent concierge and teacher and really am so passionate about sharing my years of knowledge, experience and love of bringing people together.

I believe that ‘building a village’ through meeting & nurturing connections with other parents (who are sharing similar experiences around the same time) is such a powerful and much needed support during the early days, weeks, months and years of having your baby.

This natural drive to want to bring women together, came about after having my first baby in 2013 and feeling a little duped that it wasn’t really what I thought it was going to be, that with no time for myself, feeling I wasn’t doing anything right, lack of sleep, still having to wear maternity clothes (as I couldn’t fit into anything else after having eaten too much cake whilst trying to establish feeding) and not having other mum mates to go for a glass of wine and enjoy a bit of a moan with - made my mat leave a bit crap and wanting more for myself & baby.

Later that year as our little boy was about to turn one I decided that I could help other mums not feel some of the struggles that I had, that you certainly don’t need to go it alone - that with access to the right information, being delivered in the right way that actually there’s lots to look forward to, that we are all in it together and that trusting your instincts & intuition is actually going to serve you a lot better than the barrage of information that every man and his dog seem to want to share as soon as its visible you’re ‘with’ child.

I set up the first postnatal course in Hertfordshire called 6 Week Social.

To address all of these needs and what began as a passion project soon developed into a thriving, well respected business.

Demand grew and I ventured further a field by launching in Hitchin, at that time 6 Week Social was also recognised by Hertford Town Council as an award winning course for mums with new babies.

In the first week of the first lockdown we just managed to complete our big move down to Devon (where I grew up) and after moving all of the 6WS courses online and continuing to support an even bigger audience of mums via zoom sessions, I found the perfect buyers for 6 Week Social and am thrilled to see the amazing work new owners Sarah & Tracey are doing.

So, with 2020 behind us and a good chunk of time spent with my family as we adapt to a new start here in Devon, I am thrilled to be able to bring exciting classes, courses, workshops and events to the South West.

I am lucky to have such a supportive partner who enables me to be able to spend so much time doing what I love. It’s a good job he’s such a ‘hands-on’ Dad with the amount of time I spend with the admin side of things, evenings out teaching classes and weekend events so I definitely need to say my thank you to Col here ‘on paper’.

If you are pregnant, had a baby this past year or parent to a toddler/preschool aged child - take a look at what's coming up and make sure you sign up to receive my monthly newsletter to be first in the know. And in with a chance of booking on to one of the relevant classes or courses before they sell out.
